The 31st March 2011 will go down as one of my abiding Widnes RLFC memories.

Sleepless nights for a few days before hand, stress and anxiety on the day and ultimately sheer jubilation once it was announced that Widnes would be taking their place in Super League for the 2012-2014 seasons, and hopefully far, far beyond that.

After the bitter disappointment we experienced in 2008 it was to be expected that we all went into the day nervous even though it was probably clear to all that We had the best application on the table in terms of the selection criteria.

To say the horrible thought that we might not get in this time as well, when Richard Lewis announced that Halifax had met the criteria too, would be putting things mildly, thankfully this fear was soon laid to rest.
