Martin Offiah is undeniably the greatest try scorer of his generation.

Not just for his blistering pace, but also for his elusive running style and the ability to change direction in a split second. Having been fortunate enough to see him at close hand during his Widnes days it makes it almost more laughable that certain St.Helens directors called him “an uncoordinated clown” when then coach Alex Murphy expressed an interest in signing him.

Often much maligned for his perceived lack of tackling prowess (which I believe to be rather harsh), he certainly took some really cheap shots from outclassed opponents but always came back looking for the ball anywhere on the field.

I doubt we’ll see another try scorer like him. A definite one off.
